Sundremda is a district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The cluster village lies in the valley of the river Rinne . The area around the village is surrounded to the east by wooded red sandstone mountains and in the north by Muschelkalkhöhen and in the south by the stony limestone soils of Schönefeld . On these once barren areas there were only bustards and hares . There have long been no bustards and hardly any hares left.

history

750-779 Sundremda was registered for the first time in the deed book of the Fulda monastery. On the north-eastern edge of the village there is an atonement stone , which according to local tradition is said to have been erected by Boniface .

The place was a Slavic settlement. A burial ground that was discovered and excavated in 1895 proves this ethnic affiliation through the investigated grave goods. There were many deaths from the plague in 1618–1648 . On April 12, 1740, the foundation stone of today's church was laid. Only with the separation were the Sundremda farmers released from their taxes.

On January 1, 1997, Sundremda, the cities of Remda and Teichel and nine other places formed the new city of Remda-Teichel . On January 1, 2019 Sundremda became a district of Rudolstadt as part of the incorporation of Remda-Teichel.
