Unterpreilipp is a district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The place is east directly on the bank of the Saale . You can cross the Saale on bridges via local roads to Schwarza or near Cumbach . The area around the Saale floodplain is mostly used as grassland. To the southeast, the vineyard towers over the landscape as the foothills of the Kulm .

history

Unterpreilipp was first mentioned in a document in December 1074. The area around Ober- and Unterpreilipp was settled early. The vineyard near Oberpreilipp is a foothill of the Kulm . From there you have a wide view of the country, especially the Saale valley. On this mountain was a fortified hilltop settlement, from which finds from the Urnfield Age and the beginning of the Iron Age have been recovered. In addition to agriculture, viticulture and vegetable growing played a role.

From 1991 to 1996 the place belonged to the administrative community Uhlstädt . On January 1, 1997, the village was incorporated into the city of Rudolstadt.
