Ammelstädt is a district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The federal highway 85 from Rudolstadt to Weimar leads directly past the place. The valley, in which the road from Rudolstadt to Ammelstädt also runs, is connected with a slight ascent. There are wooded hills on both sides.

Neighboring towns are in the south of Rudolstadt, with the Rudolstadt district of Pflanzwirbach directly adjacent to the southeast. In the northwest are Geitersdorf and Teichröda , in the northeast the Uhlstädt-Kirchhaseler district Teichweiden .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1350. Until 1920 Ammelstädt was an exclave of Sachsen-Altenburg and belonged to the western district before April 1, 1900, then to the district office of Roda .

The industrial area created after the fall of the Wall in 1992/1993 directly on Bundesstraße 85 brought an economic and financial upswing for the place.

The following companies settled here: - Construction - Mail order - Services - Car dealership - Gas station - Bakery trade.

On January 1, 1997, Ammelstädt, the cities of Remda and Teichel and nine other places formed the new city of Remda-Teichel . On January 1, 2019, Ammelstädt became a district of Rudolstadt as part of the incorporation of Remda-Teichel.
