The Kombus GmbH is a regional transport company based in Bad Lobenstein , the bus routes in the Saale-Orla in the outlying area of the city Neuhaus am Rennweg ( district Sonnenberg ) and in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt performs.
KomBus was founded in June 2005, at that time as a merger of three regional bus companies. On July 1, 2013, these companies merged and KomBus GmbH was created in its current form.
In regional traffic there are a total of 62 lines , which in particular cover the districts of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt and Saale-Orla, but also run to Neuhaus am Rennweg in the district of Sonneberg. Particularly long lines extend to the state capital Erfurt , to Weimar , Jena , Gera , Ilmenau , Zeulenroda , Hof in Bavaria and Plauen in Saxony. The bus company is also a partner of the long-distance bus broker Flixbus and operates long-distance bus route 354 from Saalfeld via Rudolstadt , Orlamünde , Kahla and Jena to Berlin . In the city triangle of Rudolstadt-Saalfeld- Bad Blankenburg , KomBus operates six city bus routes under the brands “Städtedreieck mobil” and “Städtedreieck Nachtmobil”. Other city buses run as "Stadt Pößneck mobil", "Stadt Schleiz mobil" and "Stadt Bad Lobenstein mobil" in the towns of the same name in the Saale-Orla district.
KomBus GmbH has, in addition to its headquarters in Bad Lobenstein, operations in Rudolstadt, Saalfeld, Pößneck, Mellenbach and Schleiz.

The following bus companies merged to form KomBus GmbH on July 1, 2013:
- Passenger transport company Neuhaus am Rennweg mbH (PVG)
- Omnibusverkehr Oberland GmbH (OVO)
- Omnibusverkehr Saale-Orla Rudolstadt GmbH (OVS)
Even before the merger, there was a joint tariff for all three bus companies. Railway companies were and are not integrated into the bus tariff.
