Pflanzwirbach is a district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

Pflanzwirbach is about 2 km north of Rudolstadt. The federal highway 85 leads through the village from Rudolstadt via Bad Berka to Weimar . In the valley, the channel flows from Remda to the Saale . On both sides of the valley are wooded slopes and hills. Agriculture and horticulture are practiced in the valley.

history

The first documentary mention of the village took place on July 19, 1295. The stone cross standing on the meadows of God probably belonged to a group of these stones. The name of the square on the eastern edge of the village indicates the importance of this square in the past. The place belonged to the owners of Kochberg Castle until 1733 , then it came as an exclave to the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and was affiliated as an official place of the dominion of Oberkranichfeld . In 1825, Pflanzwirbach came to rule the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt through an exchange of territory . In 1918 the place came to the Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and in 1920 finally to the State of Thuringia.

On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Rudolstadt. Nevertheless, the place remained a farming and artisan village. Therefore the townscape is still rural. In 1975 the village was expanded with the construction of new homes. The stable of the former LPG is now the animal shelter for Rudolstadt and the surrounding area. The parish is very active.
