Sundremda village church

The listed Protestant village church Sundremda is located in the Sundremda district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

In 1387 a previous church was mentioned for the first time. In 1531 a monk in Erfurt applied for its conversion. The preserved Romanesque east tower once belonged to a monastery , as indicated by structural elements on its ground floor.

The foundation stone of the new church was laid on April 12, 1740. The construction price was 975 thalers .

The interior of the church was extensively restored and refurbished in 2012.

The baroque style altar and pulpit date from the 18th century. The organ from 1865 is the work of Johann Menger from Paulinzella. The big bell has an inscription. The little bells were melted down during the First World War .

The cemetery is now in Altremda .
