Arthur Dobson (racing driver)
Arthur Charles Dobson (born August 6, 1914 in Lodsworth , † March 12, 1980 in London ) was a British racing driver .
Racing career
Arthur Dobson was the younger brother of Austin Dobson and like him was active as a racing driver in the 1930s. He made his debut at the 1935 RAC Tourist Trophy , where he drove a Fiat 508S but did not finish. In 1938 he won the British Empire Trophy and was successful in a total of seven Voiturette Grand Prix races in his career .
In 1938 he drove an MG PB Midget together with Elsie Wisdom , the wife of Tommy Wisdom, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , but retired prematurely after a clutch damage. 1939 he was, together with Charles Brackenbury on a plant - Lagonda V12 third overall and stepped back from the end of racing.
