Arthur L. Schawlow Award

The Arthur L. Schawlow Award has been presented annually since 1982 by the Laser Institute of America (LIA). It is intended to honor an outstanding life's work in basic or applied laser research and development that has contributed to the fundamental understanding of the interaction between light and matter.

The award consists of $ 2,000 in prize money, a lifetime membership to the Laser Institute of America, and a silver medal. It is awarded during the International Congress on Applications of Lasers and Electro-Optics (ICALEO) .
