Arthur Thömmes

Arthur Thömmes (* 1956 in Pölert ) is a German theologian, religious educator and author.

Life

Thömmes attended the elementary school in Hermeskeil and from 1970 to 1976 the Johannesgymnasium in Lahnstein . From 1976 to 1981 he studied Catholic theology , philosophy and German in Trier and Freiburg . After the following church preparatory service, he first worked as a pastoral consultant in Birkenfeld and as a student chaplain in Trier. He completed his training as a certified marriage, family and life counselor (BAG).

As a songwriter , he offers workshops and “hands-on concerts”. From 1989 to 2013 he was a religious teacher and school chaplain at the Bernkastel-Kues Vocational School , and from 2013 at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Saarburg / Hermeskeil. Since 2009 he has been working as a specialist in Catholic religion and general didactics / pedagogy (professional practice) at the state study seminar for teaching at vocational schools in Trier. In teacher training, he advocates "more serenity in everyday school and seminar life" and holistic training concepts. In addition to technical skills, the human perspective should always be kept in mind.

As a columnist he writes for ForRefs, an internet platform for trainee lawyers. As a member of the lehrerbibliothek.de website, he has been writing reviews of new publications for teachers for decades.

His numerous educational publications focus primarily on creative materials for teaching practice, teaching methods and the subject of teacher health.
