Arthur Yap
Arthur Cua Yap (born November 10, 1965 in Manila ) is a Filipino politician .
biography
After attending the Xavier School, he studied management and economics at the Ateneo de Manila University from 1983 to 1987 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (AB Management and Economics). He then completed postgraduate studies in law and graduated in 1991 with the academic degree Juris Doctor (JD). Since then he has also been a member of his alma mater's alumni association ( Ateneo de Manila University Alumni Association ).
After his admission to the bar , he initially worked as a lawyer in the Law Office of Balane, Barican, Cruz & Alampay and then from 1992 to 1995 in the law firm Azcuna, Yorac, Sarmiento, Arroyo & Chua. Since that time, he is also a member of the Philippine Bar Association (Integrated Bar of the Philippines) and the American Society of International Law (American Society of International Law) and the Society for the Philippine Constitution (Philippine Constitutional Association Inc.).
Between 1997 and 1999 he was President of the Philippine Association of Paint Manufacturers and in 1998 was a co-founder of the law firm Yap, Jacinto & Jacob Law Office, for which he worked until 2001. He then went into the private sector in August 2001 and was initially President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Philippine International Trading Corp. until September 2001 . and then at Food Terminal Inc. between November 2002 and August 2004 as CEO.
At the same time he was head of the National Food Authority from October 2002 to August 2004. As such, from February to August 2004, he was Undersecretary of State for Luzon Affairs in the Ministry of Agriculture.
On 9 July 2004 he was selected by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo finally even the Agriculture Minister in (Secretary of Agriculture) whose Cabinet . After a government reshuffle, he briefly served as Head of the Presidential Management Staff between 2005 and 2006, before being Minister of Agriculture again since 2006.
