Artyom Fyodorowitsch Sergejew

Artjom Fjodorowitsch Sergejew (Russian Артём Фёдорович Сергеев; born March 5, 1921 in Moscow ; † January 15, 2008 ibid) was an adopted son of Josef Stalin and major general of the Red Army .

His biological father, Fyodor Sergeev , was a close friend of Stalin and died in an accident in 1921. Lenin campaigned for Stalin's adoption.

Sergeev's military career began in 1938 at the age of 17. During World War II he was deployed behind enemy forces. At 23 he was made a lieutenant colonel and continued to serve in the USSR military after 1945.

He was married to Amaya Ruiz Ibárruri, daughter of the Spanish communist politician Dolores Ibárruri . He was buried in Moscow.
