Artur Babkeni Tovmasjan ( Armenian Արթուր Բաբկենի Թովմասյան ; born December 2, 1962 in Stepanakert ) is a politician and member of parliament of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic .

life and career

He finished his education in the village of Chartar in Martuni . In 1986 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Education. After graduating from university, he worked as a physics teacher in the middle school in the village of Chartar. In 1992 he defended his doctoral thesis and graduated from the Mechanics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Armenia . Artur Tovmasjan is a candidate for science in physics and mathematics.

From 1993 to 1995 he worked at the Arzach State University as principal lecturer of the chair for physics and as vice dean of the polytechnic faculty.

politics

In the elections for the third National Assembly in 1995, Artur Tovmasjan was elected as a member of parliament. He was vice-chairman of the Standing Committee on Social Issues, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Budget and Finance and on Economy.

From 1996 to 1997 he was chairman of the National Assembly. Since 1998 he has been the chairman of the department, vice-rector for teaching and rector at the University of Schuschi.

Since 2000 he has been a lecturer at the chair for structural engineering at the Arzach State University . From 2003 to 2009 he was dean of the faculty for polytechnics.

In the elections for the fourth National Assembly on June 19, 2005, he was elected as a member of parliament. Artur Tovmasjan was a member of the Standing Committee on External Relations and the chairman of the Hajreniq faction. In the elections for the fifth National Assembly on May 23, 2010, he was elected as a member of parliament by a majority system in the 12th constituency. On June 10, 2010, at the first session, he was elected Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly. He is a member of the Hajreniq group. Artur Tovmasjan is the chairman of the Athletics Federation of the NKR.

A. Tovmasjan is a co-founder of the party " Free Homeland " (Armenian asat hajreniq ), from 2005 to 2006 he was co-president of the party and from 2007 to 2009 he was the chairman of the party.

He is a professor and honorary doctor of the branch of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in Armenia.

A. Tovmasjan is married and has two children.
