Artur Wechmann

Artur Wechmann (born November 28, 1882 in Brieg in Silesia , † February 12, 1969 in Berlin ) was a German hydrologist .

Life

Wechmann completed an engineering degree, which he completed with a diploma. After the subsequent legal clerkship , he was appointed government builder ( assessor ) in 1912 .

In the 1930s and 1940s, Wechmann was Ministerialrat and Professor Head of the Prussian State Institute for Hydrology and Main Leveling in Berlin. From 1951 to 1953 he was head of the main office for hydrology of the GDR in Berlin.

"In recognition of his great contributions to the Hydrology and to the creation of the scientific basis for water management" , he was in 1953 by the Faculty of Engineering at the Technical University of Dresden , the honorary doctorate awarded.
