The Artushof in Koenigsberg

The Artushof in Königsberg was an event house in Königsberg . The building stood directly next to the Kneiphöfisches Gymnasium on the forecourt of the cathedral , the Großer Domplatz. The building was built by the Commercial Association in 1883. With its large ballroom, it was mainly used for social events. Here stopped Agnes Miegel her first poetry reading at the age of twenty. In 1921 the “ Inner Mission ” women's social school moved into Artushof. In 1924 the city bought the building from the commercial association, as it had become too small for them. The building was completely destroyed in the air raids on Königsberg and was not rebuilt.
