Dornbusch is a district of the city of Viersen . The place borders on the districts of Süchteln and Dülken , as well as Lobberich , a district of Nettetal . The place is surrounded by agricultural land and forests. The center of the village is the neo-Gothic parish church of St. Maria Helferin der Christians , which today belongs to the Community of Churches (GdG) St. Clemens in Süchteln.

history

Dornbusch was first mentioned in a document in 1465 in a tithe treaty of Canon Matthias zu Rade (as "dor den Busch"; StAKöln, Pantaleon, 421). Along with Dorp / Vorst, Sittard and Hagenbroich, Dornbusch was one of the four honors of late medieval addicts. His achievable "through the (High) Busch 'yards were the Schultheißenhof and the parish church in Süchteln kurmutpflichtig .

In 1663 an Irmgardis brotherhood Dornbusch was founded.

The church of St. Maria Hilfe der Christisten in Dornbusch was initially built as a chapel in 1855–58, based on a design by the Cologne master builder Vincenz Statz ; it was expanded into a church in 1903-09.

Another step in Dornbusch's church development was the establishment of an elementary school in 1862.
