Arus Ajemjan (also Arus Adjemian, Armenian Արուս Աճեմյան Arus Ajemjan ; * 1983 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Armenian pianist.

Life

Arus Ajemjan is the daughter of the Armenian composer Vartan Ajemian and granddaughter of the composer Aleksandr Ajemjan . She studied at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory . After graduating, she began postgraduate studies in the piano class of Rosa Tandiljan. Since 1996 she has played at many competitions, festivals and has given many piano concert evenings. In 1998 she received a prize in a competition for talented young musicians in Armenia. At the International Piano Symposium "Frederic Chopin" 1999 on the Pepperdine University campusin Malibu she won a first prize. At the third Arno Babadschanjan competition she received a first and a special prize. She then received several grants - one from the Spivakov International Charitable Fund , the International Cultural Exchange Fund and the Orbelian Fund . From then on she gave concerts with various orchestras. So she performed in 2001 with the Moscow Virtuosi under Vladimir Spivakov with the Piano Concerto K. 466 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . In the same year she took part in the Colmar Festival and the third International Oxford Festival . In 2002 she played Aram Khachaturian's Piano Concerto with the Murfreesboro Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Laurence Harvin. In 2003 she opened the first Aram Khachaturian piano competition with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. She accompanied the State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia under the direction of Constantine Orbeljan on a tour of South America with performances in Montevideo , Porto Alegre , São Paulo , Rio de Janeiro and Ribeiro Preto . In 2004 she played again with the Murfreesboro Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, this time the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff . In 2005 she made a guest appearance with the State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia and Orbeljan in San Francisco. This was followed by an appearance with the Los Angeles Symphonic Orchestra under Mikael Avetisjan (* 1966). In 2006 she performed her father's 2nd piano concerto on his 50th birthday with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Eduard Topchjan. In 2007 she gave several concerts as part of the Days of Armenia in China. On April 20, 2009 she received the Armenian President's Youth Prize for Classical Music . In 2014 she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of Armenia .

Her teachers included Nikolai Arnoldowitsch Petrow , Mikhail Sergejewitsch Voskressensky and Menahem Pressler .
