Arwal is a city in the Indian state of Bihar .

The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . Arwal is 80 km southwest of Patna . Arwal has the status of a City Council ( Nagar parishad ). The city is divided into 25 wards . The Nagar parishad Arwal had 51,849 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of whom 27,077 were men and 24,772 women.

The town of Arwal is located on the right bank of the Son River , which is a tributary of the Ganges . A large part of the population in this poor area lives directly or indirectly from agriculture.
