KK Asahi Shimbun-sha ( Japanese 株式会社 朝日 新聞 社 , Kabushiki-gaisha Asahi Shimbun-sha , English The Asahi Shimbun Company ) is the name of a Japanese media company.

The Asahi Shimbun-sha is the fourth largest media company in Japan, according to Sony , NHK and Fuji . The business areas of the group are newspapers, magazines, books, TV channels, satellite TV. The centerpiece is the eponymous daily Asahi Shimbun .

In 1951 the first radio broadcaster was founded, Asahi Hōsō KK. As early as 1956, the company expanded into the television sector, and the radio company has been listed on the stock exchange since 1961.

Asahi Shimbun-sha is also the majority owner with 38% of TV Asahi , one of the most successful television broadcasters in Japan.

Asahi Shimbun-sha is primarily owned by the Group's employees' cooperative, TV Asahi, and the Murayama and Ueno families.
