Ashurst is a village in the New Forest District of Hampshire , England , which together with Colbury Hamlet forms the Parish Ashurst and Colbury . Ashurst is on the A35 near the Southampton conurbation . According to the 2001 census, the parish had 2011 residents. The Parish is on the border of the New Forest National Park, which opened in 2005 . The village has a campsite, a few shops and a train station. There are three pubs: The Happy Cheese, The New Forest Hotel, and The Forest Inn.

To the west, the Parish is bordered by the Parish Netley Marsh and Bartley Water , to the north by the A326 and Totton and Eling, and to the south by Parish Denny Lodge , which is in the New Forest.

On May 31, 2009, the 97-year-old Millvina Dean , the last survivor of the shipwreck of the Titanic, died in the village in a retirement home .
