Asicho (or Esik) was count in Ittergau and Nethegau around 980 and is attested as such in an exchange document from 980 between King Otto II and Abbot Luidolf von Corvey .

Asicho was a descendant of the Esikonen counts , who have been attested since 813 as counts in the Saxon Hessengau and after around 950 also in the Leinegau and named after around 965 counts of Reinhausen, later of Winzenberg-Reinhausen.

In the exchange documented in 980, six places in what was then Ittergau, including today's district town of Korbach in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district , were assigned to the Corvey monastery, while Otto II received two districts from Corvey, including Memleben , in Hassegau .
