Asia Cup
The Asian Cup ( English Asian Cup ) was an ice hockey tournament of the International Ice Hockey Federation for Asian national ice hockey teams held between 1992 and 1995 . It was launched in 1991, but was first held in 1992 due to the Second Gulf War . A total of three events took place, of which Japan won two.
history
The first Asian Cup was initially due to take place in February 1991, but was postponed to January 1992 due to the Second Gulf War . Four teams took part in the first edition: Japan , the People's Republic of China , South Korea and North Korea . Japan secured the title. The following year these four teams took part again and Japan won the tournament again. After a break in 1994, the competition was held outside of Japan for the first time. In addition, the eventual winner Kazakhstan replaced the team from North Korea.
After 1995 the competition was discontinued.
