In 1978 Chrysler sold its Turkish subsidiary to local investors. The company was renamed Chrysler Kamyon. When Chrysler was taken over by Daimler-Benz , Chrysler wanted to sell vehicles under their own name again in Turkey. Therefore, Chrysler Kamyon was no longer allowed to use the Dodge brand.

In 2002 Chrysler Kamyon became Askam Kamyon.

Minibuses and pick-ups were offered under the company's own name and vans and heavy trucks under the Fargo brand. The traditional hooded vehicles were offered under the De Soto brand.

Production was stopped in 2015. Spare parts are sold through the company CKPAR Otomotiv.
