The Asmara Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Asmara , the capital of Eritrea . It was built in 1958 and has a capacity of 20,000 seats. The Asmara Stadium has been equipped with artificial turf since 2005.
The stadium is mainly used for soccer games and is the venue for the home games of the Eritrean national soccer team and the clubs Red Sea FC , Adulis FC , Hintsa and Edaga Hamus , which are based in the highest league in Eritrea. In 1968, several African Cup of Nations games were held in the stadium .
