Asociación de Industriales de Mallorca
La Asociación de Industriales de Mallorca , known as ASIMA , is an association promoting industry on the Balearic island of Mallorca . ASIMA was founded in 1964 as the first industrial association based in Spain after the Spanish Civil War .

The impetus for the foundation was the private initiative of the Catalan politician, entrepreneur and professor at the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa IESE , Ramón Esteban Fabra (1927-1983).
Founding members in 1964 were Armando Esteban Fabra , Ramón Esteban Fabra from the textile machinery factory Bordados Mallorca , Juan Pons from the transport company Transportes Pons , Francisco Garí from Metallwerk Industrias metalúrgicas Garí , Bartolomé and Antonio Buades from the fittings factory Grifería Casa Buades , as well as the small entrepreneurs Jaime Ramón Fiol , Juan Salvá , Pascual Moragón and Jaime Canudas .
The aim of ASIMA was the establishment of industrial areas outside the city center of Palma de Mallorca in order to develop the services and infrastructure of the island economy. With the help of ASIMA, the first industrial areas (Poligono) Son Castelló (usable area; 1,666,461 m²) and Can Valero (with 257,085 m²) on the outskirts of Palma were created.
Today, half of all industrial operations in Mallorca are concentrated in these two industrial areas. Most of the workforce works in small businesses. Around 80% of the resident companies have fewer than 10 employees and 1% more than 50 employees. Four companies have more than 250 employees.
Traditional industries are shoes, textiles, construction, metal, mechanical engineering, wood, food and transport, as well as numerous small suppliers.
ASIMA was approved and confirmed as a non-profit organization by Law 19/1977 of April 1, 1977 and Royal Decree 873/1977 of April 22, 1977.
