University

IESE is the abbreviation of the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa ("College of Business Management") founded in 1958 by Josemaría Escrivá in Spain . It was the first business school to bring executive education , i.e. an academically sound additional training course for managers, to Europe.

The international, bilingual MBA program (two-year) has existed since 1964 and trains around 250 students per year. MBA exchange programs exist with Business Schools Wharton , Columbia Business School , Kellogg , Sloan , London Business School , China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), HEC and others. There has been close institutional collaboration with Harvard Business School since 1964 .

The IESE Business School offers programs worldwide (main campus in Barcelona and others in Madrid and New York City , programs in Munich , Warsaw , Miami , São Paulo , Cairo , Lagos , Nairobi , Shanghai , Mumbai and others).

The school was founded by the Catholic organization Opus Dei, whose influence on teaching is the subject of controversy. Critics such as the sociologist Alberto Moncada accuse the Catholic lay organization of anchoring fundamentalist positions in top positions in the economy through the university and of recruiting high-income members for the organization.

On the other hand, however, the institution has professors and program participants from all cultures and denominations. In the 2014 ranking of the Financial Times, IESE was ranked 3rd worldwide in executive education programs, considering a total of 50 of the best management schools around the world. She even landed first place for the diversity of her faculty and also received particularly good ratings for the long-term benefits of her “Custom Programs” tailored to company needs, the internationality of her open programs such as AMP (Advanced Management Program) and PMD (Management Development Program) ) and the quality of their cooperation with partner institutions. In the Financial Times Rankings of 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, IESE's Executive Education division took first place in the overall ranking.
