Aspasios (Aristotle Commentator)

Aspasios (Greek Ἀσπάσιος Aspásios , Latinized Aspasius ) was a Greek philosopher who lived in the first half of the 2nd century. He was Herminos' teacher .

Aspasios wrote commentaries on various works by Aristotle . Part of his commentary on the Nicomachean Ethics has survived. It is the oldest known commentary on this work. Aspasios also commented on De interpretatione , the physics , De caelo , De sensu , the metaphysics and the categories . These comments are lost and only known from references and quotations in later literature.
