Assembly is a demo party that has been held annually in Helsinki , Finland since 1992 .

The event now has around 5,000 visitors and has thus finally outgrown the digital underground . Even if the venue, the well-known sponsors, big prize money and many non-scene visitors give the party a commercial touch, it is still one of the most respected parties, and many well-known groups save their particularly good creations especially for the assembly. Whoever wins the assembly's demo or intro competition can look forward not only to impressive prize money, but also to being well known in the scene.

In the years 1997–1999, the party, often simply called ASM , experienced a minor crisis, and many scenes prophesied the same end as the Danish The Party . In the meantime, however, the organizers have regained respect by focusing on the scene competitions and giving preference to demosceners among the guests.

In addition to the German revision , the assembly is one of the few parties with an international audience: around 25% of the visitors come from abroad.

An official compilation of the Assembly's productions is also released on DVD-ROM (formerly CD-ROM) every year. A video DVD is increasingly included, so that some of the demos can be viewed not only in real time on the computer, but also as films with a standard DVD player.

The Assembly is also for their E-Sports -known poker tournaments.
