Assessor (psychology)

Assessors are individuals who observe the participants psychological procedures (Assessees) and / or their products or behaviors evaluate and possibly also the performance of the test or of the assessments ( Engl. Assessment "assessment") are derived. The term is often used synonymously with "observer" and "assessor". Assessors can be psychologists , recruiters , supervisors , peers or trained persons.

The use of the term in the field of organizational psychology probably goes hand in hand with the emergence of assessment centers in the 1930s, while in learning psychology in German-speaking countries it is probably associated with the increasing research on peer assessments and self-assessments since the 1990s .
