Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen

The Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) is a European cultural and educational network that was founded in 1953. The association, based in Brussels , represents the interests of institutions that deal with the training of professional musicians and includes around 300 member universities in 55 countries.

history

A meeting between the director of the conservatory in Venice Renato Fasano and the director of the Salzburg Mozarteum Bernhard Paumgartner and his colleague Eberhard Preussner gave the idea for the establishment of a supranational association of music academies . A first meeting of music schools offering professional training was organized in Bad Aussee in the summer of 1953 and representatives of these schools from 22 countries appeared. The conference was continued in Salzburg and the foundation was completed.

Events and projects

  • Specific topics are discussed and information exchanged at an annual congress in different countries.
  • The annual meeting of the commissioners for international relations who have to do with European exchange programs provides practical information and training on bilateral and multilateral cooperation and exchange projects.

Projects

  • The coordination of cooperation and research projects for the professional music education sector, which are funded by the programs of the European Union, is one of the important projects of the AEC.
  • All AEC publications on research studies and conference minutes are available free of charge online or in print.
