Association for Progressive Communications
The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is an international network of organizations that support people and groups by providing communication infrastructure and are committed to social justice, peace, environmental protection and human rights. APC is a non-profit organization and one of the first organizations to initiate the clearing house mechanism on an international level. The main office and headquarters are in Irvine, California .
APC was founded in 1990 . The founding organizations were:
- Institute for Progressive Communications (IGC), San Francisco
- GreenNet , London
- Web Networks, Toronto , Canada
- Pegasus, Sydney .
The members were among the first providers of online services in the respective countries. Between 1992 and 2000 , APC worked as a service provider for computer infrastructure for non-governmental organizations at major UN conferences.
In Germany, the Comlink eV association was the APC's partner organization for the CL network .
