Aston Martin DBR5
The Aston Martin DBR5 (also known as DBR5 / 250) is a Formula 1 racing car produced by the automaker Aston Martin , which was then part of the technology company David Brown Corporation .
history
After the failures of the DBR4 in the 1959 World Cup , a new, smaller and faster vehicle, the DBR5, was built. After this had also failed in the automobile world championship in 1960 , Aston Martin withdrew from Formula 1. The successor to the DBR5 was the DBR9 in 2004.
technology
The DBR5 was designed by Ted Cutting. It has a five-speed gearshift and front-wheel drive . The tires of the car were supplied by the Dunlop company , the car itself weighed 575 kg thanks to its steel frame. The drivers in 1960 were Roy Salvadori and Maurice Trintignant .
