Amateur astronaut

Astroamateur is an earlier series of publications by VEB Zeiss Jena , in which the East German optics and precision engineering company has published its production program (in particular telescopes, additional devices and mounts) for astronomers, geodesists and public observatories since around 1960 .

The amateur astronomy was in the GDR a major political priority, which is why "East Zeiss" endowed his work catalog very complex - with about 200 pages and large format images. The last "amateur astronomer" appeared in the 1980s .

Astroamateur is also a publication on telescope - self-construction , observation possibilities and problems, which the Swiss Astronomical Society published in its series. The first edition (140 pages) was published in 1962 by Rascher-Verlag Zurich, edited by Hans Rohr and Robert Naef .
