The Astronomical Center Schkeuditz is a planetarium and observatory in the city of Schkeuditz , it is located in the mountain width 1. The astronomical design is carried out by the association Freundeskreis Planetarium e. V.

history

The Astronomical Center was founded on October 13, 1978 by the city of Schkeuditz. Today, it forms together with the Observatory Eilenburg the observatory Nordsachsen . A teacher from the Schkeuditz grammar school is responsible for the program. The association Freundeskreis Planetarium e. V. supports the activities of the Astronomical Center.

Technical Equipment

The planetarium has a dome diameter of 8 meters. It has 57 seats, a ZEISS ZKP-2 projector for a realistic representation of the northern and southern starry sky as well as ZEISS special projectors for the solar and Jupiter moon systems, for meteors , constellations , comets and a satellite . Several slide projectors, audio and video technology complete the equipment.

observatory

A Coudé refractor 150/2250 with automatic tracking is permanently installed in the observatory , a Cassegrain reflector 150/2250 with automatic tracking can be mounted on a column of the observation platform and three school telescopes of the type Telementor 63/840 are available on wooden tripods without automatic tracking. A Praktica camera adapter with an M42 thread completes the equipment.
