Asunden is an island off Slite , in northeast Gotland , a little northeast of the islands of Enholmen and Grunnet . The island was a restricted military area until the end of the 1990s, but today there is no longer a ban on shore leave. Asunden used to have a coastal artillery battery consisting of three cannons, two of which were on Asunden itself and the third on Hammerlandet north of the island. Large parts of the island are now a nature reserve and Natura 2000 area. The Natura 2000 area is 94.1 hectares, the nature reserve 7.9 hectares, three of which are on land and the rest is water.
