At tariff or El tariff ( Arabic الطارف, DMG aṭ-Ṭārif ) is an Egyptian village on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor , immediately north of Dra Abu el-Naga in the area of Thebes .

The area is diagonally across from the mortuary temple of Seti I at the intersection with the temple of Hatshepsut . The associated Saff graves ( pillar graves ) were located in the center of at least 250 private graves and replaced the previous grave type of the Old Kingdom .

Since at-tariff is located in an area with little rock, the Egyptians used sunken courtyards as tombs. This local form of the graves was only used in the first intermediate period and the 11th Dynasty . Similar graves were otherwise only dug in Armant , Dendera and Gebelein .
