At the Cliffs of River Rhine is a live album by the Krautrock band Agitation Free . It contains an excerpt from a concert on February 2, 1974 in Cologne, which was recorded as part of the WDR radio program "Nachtmusik".

background

In 1974 Agitation Free was marked by a strong tendency to break up. In January 1974 the band completed another successful tour of France. Starting with the Cologne concert, the band gave concerts in various German cities with their basic line-up until April 1974. Michael Hoenig then switched to Tangerine Dream , Lutz Ulbrich worked as a street musician in France and later helped out with Ash Ra Tempel . In September 1974 Burghard Rausch also got out. He then worked as a moderator at RIAS Berlin. The band toured with a changing line-up until November 1974. After that, the band stopped all activities until 2001. The album is therefore also a sound document of this time in the band's history.

content

At the Cliffs of River Rhine is characterized by longer live improvisations stylistically with psychedelic and jazzy influences. The tracks are mostly live interpretations of tracks from the album 2nd . The longest track Through the Moods only appeared on this album.

The album was only released in 1998 by the Garden of Delights label. The sound quality is excellent, as it is a recording by the WDR . It is the only official live release of the band aside from unofficial bootlegs of poor quality.
