Michael Hoenig
Michael Hoenig (born January 4, 1952 in Hamburg ) is a German musician and composer of film music .
Life
During his studies of sociology , theater studies and journalism in Berlin (West), Michael Hoenig joined the avant-garde - composer Thomas Kessler on. In the years 1971–1974 he released two LPs as a member of the avant-garde rock group Agitation Free and performed live.
In 1975 Hoenig founded the Timewind duo together with Klaus Schulze , but they broke up after a short time. A short time later Michael Hoenig represented the sick Peter Baumann in the group Tangerine Dream for their tour through Australia .
In 1977 and 1978 he worked on his first solo album Departure from the Northern Wasteland , which was released in 1978. In the summer of 1980 Michael Hoenig moved to the USA and subsequently worked on various film music projects. So he was u. a. musical director of the Godfrey Reggio classic Koyaanisqatsi and added the accompanying film music by Philip Glass . In 1987 Hoenig released the album Xcept One , most of which he recorded on the Synclavier .
In the following years Michael Hoenig concentrated on the creation of film and television music, u. a. for films such as When Touched Death , After Alice , Terminal Justice , The Amy Fisher Story , Deadly Encounter , Der Blob or Class of 1999 or TV series such as Strange World , CSI Miami , Dark Skies , The District or Max Headroom .
In addition, from 1998 he also produced soundtracks for computer games such as Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 from BioWare .
Michael Hoenig lives and works in Ibiza .

Characteristic of Michael Hoenig's musical style in the early years are his long passages in the style of Tangerine Dream , which means that he is part of the Berlin School . He later composed electronic music at the height of technical developments.
