The Atasu Dam ( Turkish Atasu Barajı ) is a dam on the Galyan Deresi , a right tributary of the Değirmendere , in the Trabzon Province in northern Turkey .
The Atasu Dam, located 20 km south of the provincial capital Trabzon , was built between 1998 and 2012 as a rock embankment dam with a water-side concrete seal. It is used to supply drinking water and generate energy . The dam is 116 m high and has a volume of 4.65 million m³. The associated reservoir covers an area of 83 ha and has a storage volume of 37.75 million m³. The Atasu dam hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 5 MW . The standard work capacity is 27 GWh per year.
