Ataxite

Ataxites are a group of nickel - iron meteorites with a high nickel content of more than 15%. Only the mineral taenite is present in these meteorites , there are no Widmanstatt structures . Hence they got their name, Greek = without structure . The name ataxite for this type of meteorite was introduced by Gustav Tschermak in 1883 .

The ataxites include B. the Chinga meteorites and Dronino meteorites and the Hoba meteorite and the Gebel Kamil meteorite .
