Athol Guy

Athol Guy AO (born January 5, 1940 in Colac , Victoria ) is an Australian musician, politician and advertising expert. He was a founding member, bassist and singer of the pop-folk group The Seekers, founded in 1963 . After the band split up, Guy was a member of the state parliament of Victoria . After that, he was very successful in advertising .

Life

Guy worked in marketing and sales for J. Walter Thompson from 1959 to 1964. From 1962 to 1968 and from 1975 to 1978 he was successful with The Seekers . In between he ran his farm. From 1974 to 1979 he had a thoroughbred stud. From 1977 to 1981 he was Managing Director of Laker Airways Pty Ltd. From 1982 to 1989 he worked in advertising at Clemenger Harvie . From 1996 to 2001 he ran a farm again.

From 1971 until his resignation in 1979 he was a member of the regional parliament of Victoria, Australia for the Liberal Party .
