Athol Meech

Athol Charles Meech (born March 28, 1907 in Ottawa , † August 2, 1981 in Lake Scucog ) was a Canadian rower who won an Olympic bronze medal in eighth in 1928 .

Athol Meech from the Argonaut Rowing Club in Toronto was part of the Canadian eight, in the occupation of Frederick Hedges , Frank Fiddes , John Hand , Herbert Richardson , Jack Murdoch , Athol Meech, Edgar Norris , William Ross and helmsman John Donnelly at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam started. A total of eleven boats took part, in the individual rounds only two boats could compete against each other. The Canadians won in the first round against the boat from Denmark, continued without a fight in the second round and won against the Polish eighth in the third round. In the semifinals, the Canadians were defeated by the boat from the United States and received the bronze medal behind the US boat and the British.
