John Donnelly

John Henry Donnelly (born March 19, 1905 in Toronto , † August 19, 1986 ibid) was a Canadian helmsman in rowing , who won an Olympic bronze medal in figure eight in 1928 .

John Donnelly of the Argonaut Rowing Club in Toronto was on the Canadian eighth, who was in the cast of Frederick Hedges , Frank Fiddes , John Hand , Herbert Richardson , Jack Murdoch , Athol Meech , Edgar Norris , William Ross and John Donnelly at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam started. A total of eleven boats took part, in the individual rounds only two boats could compete against each other. The Canadians won in the first round against the boat from Denmark, continued without a fight in the second round and won against the Polish eighth in the third round. In the semifinals, the Canadians were defeated by the boat from the United States and received the bronze medal behind the US boat and the British.
