The Athris AG (until August 2008 Jelmoli Beteiligungen AG , later Athris Holding AG), established in train is a Swiss investment company .

history

The company was founded in December 2006 as a subsidiary of Jelmoli Holding in Zurich . In the course of the realignment of the Jelmoli Group, the investments that are not part of the core business were brought in. In Switzerland, these include Seiler Hotels Zermatt AG, the retail stores Molino (restaurants), Beach Mountain (sporting goods and clothing) and Fundgrube (clothing and non-food) , which are not part of Jelmoli's core business, as well as real estate investments in Russia and Algeria.

In January 2009 it was decided to spin off Athris Holding as an independent investment company. The company was end of March 2009 on the Swiss Exchange SIX Swiss Exchange listed . The majority shareholder with a stake of a little more than two thirds is Georg von Opel, son of the same name of Georg von Opel , who previously held just under 30 percent of the capital or around 53 percent of the votes in Jelmoli Holding.

On September 16, 2009, the investment company Pelham Investments AG, which is controlled by Georg von Opel, disclosed to the board of directors that it intended to purchase all public shares. At this time, the company already controlled around 91% of the voting rights and 84% of the share capital of Athris Holding. After the publication of the offer prospectus on October 14, the expiry of the offer period and the grace period up to December 15, Pelham announced the delisting of the securities from SIX on January 19, 2010. Due to a requirement of SIX, over-the-counter trading of the outstanding bearer shares (6.8%) had to be maintained for a further three months, while no requirements were made for the outstanding registered shares (2.2%).

After Pelham took over Athris, existing investments were further reduced. In mid-2011, the Beach Mountain sporting goods chain was sold to Dosenbach-Ochsner , which continues to operate the chain as an independent brand while retaining its name.

In February 2012 it was announced that the cousins Christian and Roberto Seiler would buy back the Athris stake of 91.2% in the operating company of the Seiler Hotels. The same had sold 83.5% of the family business to Jelmoli Holding in 2007, when the shares in Athris were split up. In addition, it was disclosed that in the course of the ongoing Athris divestment , the property owned by the Seiler Hotels was sold by Athris to Credit Suisse in mid-2011 .

In mid-2012, the company's headquarters were relocated from Zug to La Punt in the canton of Graubünden , which is now Georg von Opel.

At the end of May 2014 it became known that Molino AG , which had 18 restaurants at the time, had been taken over by the Migros Zurich cooperative at an unknown price. in November the name was changed to Ospena Group AG .

In June 2018, Athris registered shares with a nominal value of CHF 1.00 were listed on the Bern stock exchange (BX Swiss AG). No new shares will be issued by Athris in the course of this IPO. Also in June 2018, the company's headquarters were relocated from La Punt to Zug.

At the end of June 2018, Athris was almost exclusively invested in liquid assets, with the focus on listed shares and investment funds. The company is an investment company within the meaning of the listing regulations for investment companies of BX Swiss AG. Targeted portfolio selection, active management and an adequate level of leverage aim to outperform the overall market.
