Atlético Cuernavaca is a Mexican football club from Cuernavaca in the state of Morelos .

history

The original Club Atlético Cuernavaca rose for the first time in 1970 to the second division , in which he could hold until relegation in 1973. After the runner-up in the third-rate Segunda División 'B' under their temporary name Galicía in the 1988/89 season, they returned for one season to the Segunda Division 'A' , which was still second-rate at the time , but were relegated immediately and named themselves for the 1990 season / 91 back to Atlético. At the end of the season they finished third, but this season still entitled to promotion, so that they made the immediate return to the Segunda División 'A', in which they were represented from 1991/92 to 1993/94.

When, due to a league reform at the beginning of the 1994/95 season, the Segunda División became third class and the newly created Primera División 'A' took the role of the second division, Atlético Cuernavaca merged with the Escuadra Celeste de Celaya to form Club Atlético Celaya , which has a starting place in the new Primera División 'A' received.

Later, a new club called Atlético Cuernavaca was founded, which has been represented in the fourth-class Tercera División since the 2007/08 season . Formerly assigned to Group III, it is now assigned to Group IV.
