Irma von Duczynska , also Dutczynska, (born January 27, 1869 in Lemberg , † January 19, 1932 in Wiesneck near Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a painter and sculptor, active in Vienna and Munich.

Life

Irma von Duczynska was the niece of Eduard von Duczyński (1823–1861), an officer in the Austrian army, draftsman and watercolor painter.

She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Heinrich Lefler and Ferdinand Andri . From 1901 she took part in art exhibitions in Vienna.

1909–1914 she ran a painting school for women and children in Vienna, “Painting School Irma von Duczynska and Imre Simai” with the Hungarian sculptor and painter Imre Simay (1874–1955) and the sculptor Elza Kövesházi-Kalmár (1875–1956), who also Taught children aged 6-14.

Because of the lung disease, she stayed in Greece and Italy . In 1915 she returned to Vienna to study anthroposophy with Rudolf Steiner .

Because of the war, she moved to Munich in 1915 , where she set up a small studio. She was born with Michael Bauer and Margareta Morgenstern. Gosebruch von Liechtenstern, Christian Morgenstern's widow, befriended. In 1931 she came to the Lung Clinic in Wiesneck, where she died the next year.

Her sister Helena was also a painter.
