Atlético Mexiquense

Atlético Mexiquense is a former Mexican football club based in the city of Toluca in the state of México . He was the farm team of Deportivo Toluca FC playing in the second division and occasionally played his home games in Ixtapan de la Sal .

The club was formed when the management of Deportivo Toluca FC acquired the second division license from Atlético Hidalgo before the 1997/98 season and launched a farm team under the name mentioned above.

The newly founded team ended their first half-season (Invierno 1997) with a record of 15 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats and a goal difference of 46:22 as Superlíder, as the best point team of the round, but failed in the semi-finals of the Liguilla with 1: 4 and 1: 1 at the later champions and promoted Pachuca .

In 1998 and 1999 Atlético Mexiquense missed the qualification for the Liguillas, which they first reached again in Torneo Verano 2000 when they lost 2: 5 and 1: 4 in the quarterfinals against the later promoted Irapuato .
