Auchenhove Castle

Auchenhove Castle is a ruined castle in the village of Auchenhove , about 5.5 km northwest of Aboyne in the Scottish county of Aberdeenshire . Other names for the ruins of the castle from the 16th century are Auchinhove Castle or Easter Mains .

history

The Duguid family had the castle built. During the Jacobite Revolt in 1746, it was burned down by the troops of the Prince of Cumberland . The estate had belonged to the Duguids since around 1434.

architecture

The castle appears to have been a late house built around a castle courtyard with access via a dam .
