Audronė Žigaitytė-Nekrošienė

Audronė Žigaitytė-Nekrošienė (born January 12, 1957 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian composer, music teacher, critic and journalist.

Žigaitytė-Nekrošienė studied music theory at the MK Čiurlionis Music School until 1975 and composition with Eduardas Balsys at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy until 1980 . Until 1982 she attended the composition class of Nikolai Sidelnikov at the Moscow Conservatory . Since 1983 she has been teaching instruments and instrumentation, score reading and opera dramaturgy at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy.

As a composer, she became best known for four operas, for which she also wrote the libretti: Mažvydas (1988, based on the drama of the same name by Justinas Marcinkevičius ), Žilvinas ir Eglė (2002, based on the poem by Vincas Mykolaitis-Putinas ), Praregėjimas, arba puota maro metu (2005) and Frank'Einstainas - XXI amžius (2010). In addition, she wrote music pedagogical literature, in addition to textbooks and compendia, also audio and video collections, and wrote over 700 articles on music history topics.

Since 1988 she has been the publisher and editor-in-chief of the music magazine Muzikos barai . She has released more than 100 CDs with Lithuanian artists and works by Lithuanian composers. From 2005 to 2010 she directed the Klaipeda Opera House. There she performed operas by Claudio Monteverdi and Claude Debussy , gave annual gala concerts on Wagner's birthday and organized the Baroque Opera Festival weeks. Žigaitytė-Nekrošienė is a member of the Lithuanian Composers' Union (since 1983), the Lithuanian Musicians' Union (since 1997, President since 2010) and the Lithuanian Journalists' Union (since 2000).
