The Auelsberg is a 346.8 m high elevation on the field boundary between Berka / Werra and Dippach in the town of Werra-Suhl-Tal in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

In terms of nature, the Auelsberg is part of the Berka basin . It has been used in agriculture and forestry for centuries. The Abteroda potash mine was set up in the adjacent valley of the “Great Trench” and on the south-western slope . Part of the mining complex that was built there is still there and has been designated as an industrial monument .

The old road known as "Hohe Strazza" leads over the mountain to Vacha , with a medieval Landwehr running alongside it .
