On the reed

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Auf der Ried is a district of Mannswörth in the municipality of Schwechat in Lower Austria .

The mill located on what was then a branch of the Schwechat , the Kalten Gang , was first mentioned in 1674. Today's mill building, the Neumühle , was built in 1720. The connecting road between Albern and Mannswörth, today's state road L2064, passed through this mill ; With the regulation of the Danube in 1883 and the expansion of the Albern harbor , the main stream of the Schwechat was directed over this arm into the Danube . The area to the left and right of the Schwechat was developed and settled by two settlement associations from the 1980s. The Way of St. James also leads through the district and at this point over the Schwechat .
